Passionate about trekking and photography, I created this website in 2021 to share my hiking routes. My camera is a Canon EOS 100D<\/a>, which I chose mainly for its lightness. However light it is, I don't always take it on my long treks<\/a>, because the smallest gram counts in the bivouac! It is for this reason that the photos in this section of the site are generally of lower quality.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Every photo sold on Photagne was personally taken during a hike, trek, or bivouac: never purchased, never from a stock photo library. The site now covers several mountain ranges: the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps (\u00c9crins, Vanoise, Mont Blanc, Belledonne), the Vercors, the Dolomites, the Apennines and the Apuan Alps in Tuscany, and the Himalayas in Nepal during a solo trek in the Khumbu. Each mountain range has its own climate, its own light, its own challenges, which are directly reflected in the images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of these photos were taken during multi-day, self-supported backpacking trips, sometimes involving camping. This mode of travel imposes its own rules: a lighter pack, equipment reduced to the bare essentials. But it allows you to be out in the field at times and in conditions that few photographers seek: sunrise at altitude, crossing passes over 5,000 meters, nights in mountain huts or under the stars. Backpacking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In summer, I favor bivouac hiking because it offers complete freedom of movement. As a reminder, a bivouac is a temporary camp: the tent is pitched in the evening and removed in the morning. It is authorized in most French and Italian parks, unlike wild camping. In bivouac, the backpacks are generally quite heavy, between 10 and 15kg for me. However, I have a friend who manages to leave with less than 10kg, optimizing the slightest gram!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In winter, camping being a little too 'hardcore' for my taste, I often choose to sleep in cabins with free access. To find them and organize your hike, a single reference: the indispensable site refuges.info<\/a> !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A warning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Itinerant hiking is generally not improvised overnight. Thus, if you have questions concerning the routes of this site, do not hesitate to contact me by the form of the home page<\/a>. In general, it is important to take the necessary precautions because the mountain routes can be dangerous. Always carry a good map, a headlamp, warm clothes, a first aid kit and a survival blanket. Leave with suitable equipment and take the weather into account. In winter, it is essential to have a DVA equipment<\/a> (Arva and shovel), and whether you are on skis or snowshoes. And it's always better when you don't go alone on a dangerous route (although I myself have broken this rule more than once\u2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
