La Meije in winter from the Emparis plateau. The Emparis plateau, at over 2000 m, is one of the best viewpoints of the Meije — a rocky peak in the Écrins massif at 3982 m. In winter, the snow-covered plateau and the dark mountain create a contrast that completely changes the perception of the landscape: the snow in the foreground gives depth, the dark face gives height.
This photo was taken during a snowshoeing trip from Chazelet: The Emparis plateau on snowshoes from Chazelet.
