The landscapes of the Himalayas, a spectacular image

Welcome to my page of photographs and posters of the Himalayas. Seen from afar, the Himalayan mountains are so high that they seem to float in the sky, suspended as if by magic above the plains. In Nepal, everything is on such a large scale that the eye has difficulty measuring it... There are villages inhabited at altitudes higher than Mont Blanc!

At such altitudes, the air is so pure that you might sometimes think you are in space. Those are ideal conditions for the mountain landscape photography. The hights snow capped peaks shine in the crystalline light of the morning, while the Sherpas carry their disproportionate load in tap shoes on the stony paths.

You will find on this page all my most beautiful photographs of the Himalayas in Nepal, landscapes that I traveled through during a trip in 2022. I wish you a good viewing, and I hope that you will feel as I do the unique beauty of these wild mountains!

Photographs of Nepal – Crossing the Himalayas, camera in hand

The photos you see here were taken during my trip to Nepal in November 2022. I traveled the Three Passes Trek around EverestA demanding, long, sometimes harsh route — but above all, a deeply moving one.

It wasn't just a physical challenge. It was an immersion into one of the most powerful landscapes I've ever experienced. A journey that gave new meaning to my practice of mountain photography.

The Three Passes Trek – Entering the Himalayas on Foot

It all started at Phaplu, far from the tourist routes. The path climbs gently towards Kharikhola, through forests, rice paddies, and the first hilltop villages. The lights change quickly. The altitude begins to make itself felt. Very quickly, we enter a different rhythm—slower, more attentive.

HAS Lukla, the atmosphere changes. The air becomes dry, almost cutting. The path to Namche Bazaar becomes steeper, clinging to the mountainside. With each bend, the Himalayas reveal themselves a little more. And already, the impression of being tiny.

High peaks, contrasts and harsh light

The rest of the route leads to Dingboche, then towards the Cho La PassThe landscape becomes more mineral, and also more vast. green valleys intersect icy slopes, the peaks appear without warning. The climb to the pass is tough, but at the top, silence prevails. Nothing to say, just watch.

On the way, some apparitions: a Himalayan Tahr, A Monal with bright reflectionsThey cross the image like furtive flashes. Brief moments, but ones that we never forget.

Gokyo, Renjo La – See the Himalayas and Leave

HAS Gokyo, the frozen lakes reflect the light from the peaks. The air is calmer, clearer. And since the Renjo La Pass, the view is almost unreal: Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and others still, all there, in a soft late afternoon light. Each trigger is a modest act. What we see up there always exceeds what we can truly grasp.

The return to Namche, Then Phaplu, is done more slowly. The body is tired, but the eye remains alert. In the evening, meals of Dahl Bat In the small lodges, the simple smiles of the hosts leave a mark at least as strong as the landscapes.

High Altitude Mountain Photography

TheHimalayas, seen from above, are not at all gentle. They are sharp, vast, often inhospitable. And yet, they soothe low-angled lights, the deep shadows, the moon over the glaciers, the clear stars above the ridges : everything becomes simpler, clearer.

Sleeping at 5,000 meters, walking from pass to pass, feeling every breath, every effort—that's where photography takes on its full meaning. Each image brought back is a field testimony, a lived trace.

Images that extend the journey

These photographs of Nepal don't seek to impress. They tell of a walk, a light, a moment. They invite contemplation, attention, and a reminder that there are places where the world is no longer noisy.

The three passes trek marked me. Not only as a hiker, but as a photographer.
What I bring back is a series of images where theimmensity, the solitude, the brutal beauty from the high mountains cross without effect.
